Satsuma

The most reliably cold hardy citrus tree in San Antonio. The one planted in our Bandera Rd store has seen 3 days of below freezing temperatures without any damage to the foliage. The fruit, however, was lost. The tree is evergreen and looks good year round. The shiny leaves are attractive even from a distance. Wonderfully fragrant blossoms appear in late winter to mature into round, green fruit. These fruit turn bright orange in the summer and continue to hang on the tree until picked. The fruit is tasty but slightly mealy with quite a few seeds. It is very easy to peel.
